In 1715, Jean Martell left his native isle of Jersey and established his own business in Cognac, trading in eaux-de-vie. He set up his office on the land called Gâtebourse, around which he built his warehousing. Today, Martell's finest eaux-de-vie are still stocked there.
In the 19th century Martell used flat bottom boats for its shipments of eaux-de-vie from Cognac, and also for tranfering barrels from warehouse to warehouse.
Faithfull to its heritage, Martell decided to give life to this type of transport and integrated a copy of an authentic, gabare into its Visitor's Tour.

Circuit open from every day from April to October.
To be consumed with moderation.
